What is Somatic Lifestyle Coaching?
Somatic Coaching is a holistic and body-based approach that transforms our challenges into growth, meaning, change and resilience, and helps us understand how our environment, development, relationships, and spiritual and cultural influences affect our overall well-being.
When we feel trapped in feelings of self-doubt, shame or self-blame. Somatic coaching teaches us to reframe our emotions and build our capacity for self-compassion.

What to Expect
In your first session, I'll ask you what your goals are for coaching. Perhaps you're looking to improve an important relationship, or change careers, or stop unhelpful patterns that come up in your daily life.
Once we've established what the goal is, we'll explore why you chose that goal and who the goal is for.
I'll then invite you to share what's on your mind for today's session. We'll examine an area of your life where you're struggling, or feeling frustration or tension. We'll try to understand where you feel that tension; and using imagery and sensation, we'll get a sense for what it looks/feels like; and what meaning we can attach to it based on your own experiences.
In essence, we're trying to move what's unconscious and hidden in your mind and body into your conscious awareness so we can work with it and learn from it.

My Story
I became a certified Mind Body Coach with the Embody Lab after a 25-year career in the tech industry.
I saw myself repeating negative patterns and couldn't seem to shake imposter syndrome. I was burning out and staying in harmful relationships much longer than I should have.
Despite years of teaching yoga, and a decades long mindfulness practice, I was surprised to learn how disconnected to my body I was on an emotional or psychological level. I believed that feeling and sensing emotions was very much a conscious mental process. When I started to connect with my body and process emotions through "embodied awareness" I was able to take control of my emotions, navigate and redirect my unhealthy patterns and build healthier strategies and greater resilience for life's ups and downs.
My yoga teaching practice has evolved as well. My classes are less about "effort", "strength" and "flexibility" and more about opening and easing into a state of restoration where the body can relax, heal, and replenish.
To that end, I will have completed my certification as a Restorative Yoga Teacher with Judith Lasater in 2027.
Prior, I completed my yoga teacher training with the Himalayan Institute for Yoga Science and Philosophy in Honesdale, PA in 2003. I've taught yoga to survivors of cancer at The Wellness Community and in private studios throughout Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont.
My goal is to bring these two modalities together to help people find more spaciousness in their lives. I love that word. When we create space in the joints in a restorative pose, we bring more oxygen to our cells to heal. When we listen to the natural wisdom of the body in a coaching session, insights and meaning emerges naturally and in a way that generates space to build an action plan that works with our personal goals in mind.
Let's work together to create more spaciousness in your healing journey.
